Invest Elyria is working with the Parks and Recreation department on a plan to bring the first splash pad, or spray park as they are sometimes called, to Elyria. Splash pads are the latest thing to hit many surrounding communities. We are not looking to replace the existing pools, but rather to enhance those areas to appeal to a broader age group, giving young kids as well as the older ones a new and exciting and safer way to cool off in the summertime.
UPDATE:
The city of Elyria Parks and Recreation department will use grant money to help build a splash pad at West Park. The pool at West Park has been out of service since 2007 and building a splash pad will probably be less expensive than repairing the pool. Our original plan was proposing to build a splash pad at East Park as an addition to the pool, not a replacement. However, with the grant money available for West Park, it would only make sense for us to support the city in any way we can to make this happen.
