“A reinvestment of both finances and morale”

DOWNTOWN MAPS/DOWNTOWN DOLLARS

The maps will be taken into the main businesses downtown and on Cleveland Street, handed out to employees and requested to be posted in windows and displayed on counters for shoppers to see. The goal is to familiarize people with the locations of other local businesses that they can try to frequent in those areas, getting business names out there and encouraging businesses to work together and cross promote their services. People may be able to save a couple bucks on a meal or on another service – like the Downtown Dollars program that the City of Oberlin has where Downtown Dollars are allowed to be spent inside certain downtown stores. This program offers the residents savings and business owners a stream of revenue that might not have otherwise existed.

MERCHANT NETWORK

The merchant network will bring business owners together from across the city, establishing what each business offers and how some area businesses can start to buy from others who are located right in Elyria. UPDATE: We currently have over 15 businesses involved in this effort and we will be continuing to add more to this as the weeks and months continue on. We are asking that the current small businesses take this over and make it their own by reaching out to businesses that they know and getting them involved.

DOWNTOWN THEME

Originally on the 2015 plan, the downtown theme will be created by community leaders and building and business owners currently in downtown. The theme will be done to cement a direction and to have a consensus on what way we are to take downtown and what steps will be done to ensure we stay on course. Looking for interested parties.

COMPLETION OF 2015 TASKS

The 2015 plan has many smaller projects that don’t require too much money, but the time and commitment of the citizens to see a project through to help these goals become a reality.

TASTE OF ELYRIA

This event is in the initial planning stages and would showcase local restaurants, bakeries, caterers, etc.
